Nowa Kolonia

The main focus is on the physical and mental process of existence. Larsen has no control over the scientific process since it has been monitored by two specialists: Mr Spolik and Zvidd. They are the masters of illusions which Larsen experiences. Grzegorz Wróblewski has created an unusual vision of science fiction, both terrifying and surprising. Larsen, Mother and two scientists experience an advanced disintegration of mental and physical structures. The material world seems to be a heavy burden that the New Man has to get accustomed with. All appearances and forms are transformed into one, for example: it is hardly possible to see an individual face, as all the faces of the colony citizens have melted into one image. A physical phenomenon is something extremely weird in this realm. The characters suck and melt one into another; life is going on somewhere beneath, over, under, near, on the surface, at the bottom. “The New Colony” creates a wide range of staging and acting possibilities. It is richly inventive and vibrant; some innovative means and forms of expression are to be used while performing it.  The play starts and ends with a mysterious surgery performed on Larsen by the scientists.  Mr Spolik and Zvidd aim at giving Larsen a new incarnation. They are examining his thoughts and feelings, helping him with numerous instructions; however, Larsen’ perception is faulty. Only tiny shapes and sounds are reaching his senses.  When the span of his existence comes to the end, he is forced to have another bloodless operation.
