Tango Piazzolla is the world's first theatrical play written especially to the music of the great Argentinian composer, tango genius Astor Piazzolla, whose works have been praised for many years both on the most famous concert stages and in night clubs. Piazzolla has combined traditional Argentinian tango compositions with jazz and classical music to best convey the spirit of this dance - sensuality and passion, and at the same time the transience of happiness and sorrow of passing affections. This is also the climate of Anna Burzyńska's play.

The action of the play begins in a gloomy bar "somewhere in Poland" where Marysia, a young girl looking for an escape from the grey reality in her dreams of distant Buenos Aires, hot beaches and tango, cleans up. In the morning, Marek - a man from nowhere, a poet and a fortune seeker - arrives at the bar. Marysia tells Marek the story of Manuela Frenetico (or rather Małgośka Frączakówna) - the only one who managed to get out of the town and become a big music star, and for whose return everyone is waiting. Slowly, the girl also introduces the newcomer to the world of her dreams - before the eyes of the surprised boy, the squalid place turns into an Argentinian tango parlour - a place where one comes to dance tango. Like ghosts, the characters of the play appear here: Margarita - the owner of the bar, her daughter Lucia - the most beautiful girl in town, bartender Carlos, unhappily in love with Lucia, abandoned by Carlos Nina, Dolores, who is rumoured to prefer women, Pedro - unhappily in love with Dolores, Esteban - hopelessly longing for Manuela Frenetico and Jorge, Manuela's father. When a fight starts in the bar, initiated by an impulsive bartender, and when he is dismissed as punishment by the owner, Marek becomes one of the heroes of the tango dream. Now he will be the bartender in the "El Suenio" pub and will get caught up in the tangle of love affairs of her regulars - even mother and daughter Margarita and Lucia will fight for his feelings.

Thanks to the beautiful poetic songs (Astor Piazzolla's greatest hits written for the famous Italian singer Milva and the Argentinian tango diva Amelita Baltar) we will hear about the tragedies of the amorous characters and about the illusory moments of closeness, which last only as long as one dance. Unexpectedly, Manuela Frenetico will also appear to give her last concert in her hometown - after she leaves, we will find out that she has just died in a car accident, having become famous, but not having experienced true love. The dream of tango will not turn out to be a happy dream - as in life, each of the characters will invest their feelings in the wrong person, and will be loved by someone completely different. And even when Lucia finally finds her desired love with Mark, their happiness will be brutally destroyed by jealous Carlos. So Marysia decides to stop her bad dream, and in the finale the famous Libertango by Astor Piazzolla will sound. It will finally allow the protagonists to find their other half, and at the same time free them from a vicious circle of suffering.
